Royal Oak (Vancouver):
On their 2018 release ‘Pretend’, and more recently, on their anthemic new single “White Lies”, Royal Oak has successfully paired indie rock vibes with a modern pop sensibility, presenting music that is clean and controlled, and yet bursting at the seams with energy. this is a band that has clearly found their sound. On 2018’s ‘Pretend’, the band teamed up with producer/mix engineer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said the Whale), and crafted standout tracks like “Tell Me”, with its overblown synthy charm, and “Mistakes”, a bubbly duet with Vancouverite songstress Chersea. Not ones to fix something that ain’t broke, the four joined Worsley again for a new batch of songs, pushing things even further into sleek pop territory. Time and time again, the band proves you can craft memorable hooks with an indie aesthetic, while adding a little adventurous spirit into every track.

BORT with Nine O'Clock Gun
Saturday August 31
BORT ---- Through deep desert grooves drenched in the gloom of the Pacific Northwest, BORT wades through the sea of hair and empties to unleash their brand of fuzz rock on any and all. The four piece from Vancouver BC have wasted no time in getting their craft heard, as they're set to release their second record in as many years. Recorded in the final days of 2018, the five track offering from BORT delves further into the dark and psychedelic. The Unblinking Eye sees the band embrace their heavier influences, while retaining the distinct characteristics introduced on their debut LP, Crossing the Desert (2018). The quartet always aim to keep you on your toes, perfectly demonstrated with the inclusion of their sonically crushing rendition of the 1980’s Tears for Fears classic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World”. Gruff vocals, bass heavy instrumentation, and spaced out guitar melodies; this is undoubtedly a BORT record through and through.
The band looks to build on their 2018 success, which aside from the release of their debut included opening slots for acts including Acid King, 1000mods, Yawning Man, and Telekinetic Yeti. Keep an eye out for BORT on their western Canadian Decibel Worship Tour this Spring with fellow Vancouverites Heron and the UK’s The Grudge, which includes a stop at Calgary’s 420 Music and Arts Festival. The Unblinking Eye is available on CD, digital and streaming services everywhere April 12, 2019.
Nine O'Clock Gun ---- In the waning notes of 2012, High School friends Chuck Konopski (Bass) and brothers Rick (Guitar) and Brandon (Drums) Corness set out to find a frontman to complete their lineup. Their search led them to Corey Fenton, former guitarist of the now defunct rock group “The Stone Pines” (thestonepines.bandcamp.com/). Not known on stage for his singing, Fenton had second thoughts about joining. However, the trio heard something special in the distorted vocal tracks of Corey’s demos and convinced him to give it a try.
The newly form band quickly began song-writing and finding the distinctive sound which would lay the foundation for their first EP released one year later (January 9th 2014), the night of their first show.
Recorded at Harbourside Studios in North Vancouver with producer Mike Slater (Slow Wave Saga),
the self-titled 6 song EP did well earning a spot as the lead track on UK-based Classic Rock Magazine’s indie compilation, "By Royal Appointment", distributed in issue 195.
Shortly after the release, Chuck announced his approaching departure from the group in order to pursue career opportunities in Toronto. One of his final shows with the band, a howler at the now defunct Electric Owl in Vancouver, featured local musical heavyweights “Grizzly Bones” and a mysterious acoustic set by former “The Coalition” frontman William John. Totally blown away by his performance, Corey recruited Will to be the lead guitarist for the reboot of the “The Stone Pines”. Although the project never did get off the ground, it did lead to Will’s assimilation into “Nine O’Clock Gun” as the new bassist and eventual lead guitarist when former Stone Pines bassist, Clark Buchanan, was asked to join.
The new quintet quickly gelled and set to work finishing off their follow up EP, STORMS, which had been put on hold following Chuck’s departure. The band is putting the wax on a full length album by early 2018.

Benjamin Laub – better known as Grieves – is a Seattle-based hip-hop artist signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment. He emerged in 2007 with the independently released Irreversible, which led to touring with some of indie rap’s finest, including artists like Atmosphere, Macklemore, Cunninlynguists, Watsky, Chris Webby, P.O.S, and many more. He’s since followed with four more full-length studio albums: 88 Keys & Counting (2010); Together/Apart (2011) which landed at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers and #106 on their Top 200; Winter & the Wolves (2014) which peaked at #57 on Billboard’s Top 200; and his latest release, Running Wild (2017).
Between his rigorous touring, Grieves continues to consistently create and release new music. This summer, the release of a brand new 8-track EP, The Collections of Mr. Nice Guy, follows the announcement of new tour dates in the US, Canada, the UK and the EU; all scheduled for Fall 2019.

Alone I walk ---- Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; Alone I Walk was born from the creative mind of Franky Courcelles. After brother Pascal Courcelles’ own band separated, he soon joined his brother Franky in what would become a soon to be iconic musical partnership.
Alone I Walk brings a wide range of energetic, hooky rhythms that are perfectly tied together with the strong and emotive vocal delivery by frontman François Courcelles that are tightly supported by Pascal for the impactful harmonies that they bring to their sound both live and on record. The brothers soon signed to Los Angeles based label Anchor Eighty Four Records during the winter of 2019. Traveling to Los Angeles shortly after, Alone I Walk tapped producer Johnny Liu (In Her Own Words, Movements, Slowtrip) to help elevate (an understatement) the demos they had written for their label debut EP due out later this year.
